How do I upload Images?
So you wanna add your own images off your harddrive into your site? This is accomplished by uploading images saved on your computer onto an image hosting site. But before we dive into that, let's go over some facts about uploading images.

  • Before you can upload an image, it must already be saved to your computer.
  • Image must be saved in .gif, .jpg, or .png format
  • Keep in mind how big the image is (in KBs especially). Really big images will take longer to load and sometimes they fail to upload on free image hosting sites.
  • That image better not be a stolen image of mine with the credits erased!
Step #1: Find a free image-hosting site
You need to find somewhere to host the image, If you already have a freewebs or geocities account, you can upload images there. However, freewebs and geocities DO NOT allow direct-linking. That means that images uploaded at freewebs or geocities will NOT show up on neopets, on gaia, nor on myspace, etc. Below is a list of free image hosting sites that allow you to upload images that can be directly-linked.

For most of these, you must sign up (register) before you can upload an image. Don't worry sign up is free and usually quick.
Step #2: Starting
Whatever hosting site you signed up for, look for a button or link that says UPLOAD and click on it.
Step #3: Look for the file
Click BROWSE and the folders in your hadrive will pop up in a new window. Look for the folder where your images are. Once you find that folder, click on the file and click open. The directory will appear in the text area.
Step #4: Upload and then insert url into the code
When you click 'ok' or 'upload', the page will refresh and take you to where the file is saved at that site. If you signed up for photobucket, it has already generated the html code you need to copy and paste in order to place the image on your site. If not, click on the file, right-click on the image (that should be visible at the top left corner of a new blank page) , choose PROPERTIES, and then copy the ADDRESS, the WIDTH, and the HEIGHT. Paste the addresss, width, and height into this code:

<img src="http://wwww.URLofIMAGEhere" width="____" height="____">
